Dr Helen Savoia
Dr Savoia is a consultant Haematologist and Transfusion Medicine Specialist at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne and has been practicing in the area of pregnancy-related haematology since the late 1990s.
Helen is currently Director of Laboratory Services which provides services to the Royal Children’s Hospital and Royal Women’s Hospital. She is also Head of the Department of Clinical Haematology responsible for clinical and laboratory haematology and transfusion services at both sites.
She is an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Paediatrics, University of Melbourne, completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Melbourne and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Her clinical area of practice is obstetric haematology and transfusion medicine. Helen is Chair of the Blood Matters Advisory Committee, Department of Health Victoria, a member of the Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (NAIT) Registry of the Transfusion Outcomes Research Collaborative (TORC) and Chaired the Clinical Reference Group for the Module 5 of the Patient Blood Management Guidelines; Obstetrics and Maternity.
