Dr Ruth Mitchell
Ruth Mitchell, a Neurosurgery Trainee at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, is presently in the second year of her PhD at the University of Melbourne, investigating brain tumour biology.
Currently the Chair of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Trainees’ Association, Ruth is a keen advocate for trainees, and was named 2016 Doctor-in-Training of the Year by the AMA.
Aside from her medical qualifications, Ruth has degrees in Zoology and Political Science. She has worked in Slovakia with Romany Gypsy children and addressed the United Nations. This is her first time speaking to the ASA and she is extremely excited to be invited.
