Prof Alistair Royse
Alistair is a cardiothoracic surgeon at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and has been a pioneer of the use of radial artery and arterial coronary revascularisation. He was also very early adopter of ultrasound technologies in cardiac surgery and is the co-director of the Ultrasound Education Group at The University of Melbourne. He remains active in research and is the principal or national principal investigator for 7 multicentre international trials. He is a chief investigator for the successful NHMRC TRiCS-III trial (Transfusion tRiggers in Cardiac Surgery), being the Australian arm of the Canadian led study.
