A/Prof Kersi Taraporewalla

Taraporewalla, Kersi

A/Prof Kersi Taraporewalla works as an anaesthetist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, and is the lead educator for The Critical Care Course of The University of Queensland. Interests include increasing safety in anaesthesia, education and simulation. The current clinical interests are in vascular surgery and neurosurgery.

He has been interested in analysing adverse events in anaesthesia from multiple view points including reporting, recapitulating via simulation, factor analysis as well as understanding human psychology and the use of neuroscience in the explanation of errors and violations. The current belief is that anaesthesia is NOT as safe as it should be at a one in a million incident rate and that the whole of anaesthesia needs to adopt new methods to bring it to this level.
