ASA Social Evening

Getting there: Delegates and their family can easily make their own way to ACMI which is either a short walk or tram ride from the congress hotels.
ACMI is the place to discover the history and future of cinema and is Australia’s only centre dedicated to the moving image. On display in September, will be a stunning exhibition of SCORSESE. Martin Scorsese is one of the most exhilarating film makers of all time and the exhibition will cover the gamut of his career with personal insights. Please note the Scorsese Exhibition is not suitable for children due to Scorsese’s subject matter.
Coupled with ACMI’s permanent display of the history of cinema with moving images, Hollywood glamour and interactive entertainment, ACMI is suited for all ages. The night will include roving entertainers, a jazz band and a fine selection of finger food and beverages. Delegates may choose to follow on and discover the night delights of Melbourne intimate bars, live theatre, live music and restaurants.

ASA Gala Dinner – ‘Diamonds are Forever’

Delegates who have purchased tickets to the ASA Gala Dinner are invited to attend a complimentary Tennis Tour at the Rod Laver Arena. The tour will be held from 6:00pm to 6:30pm before the Gala Dinner commences. Delegates will need to opt-in for the tour during the registration process as spaces are limited. Please note that transport to the Melbourne Park Function Centre will not be provided. The walking distance from the Rod Laver Arena to the Melbourne Park Function Centre is approximately 10 minutes.

It’s time to turn up the glamour level, celebrating the NSC’s 75th year!
With stunning city views in the heart of Melbourne’s sports precinct, enjoy pre-dinner drinks on the open air balcony of Melbourne Park Function Centre. Early arriving guests may elect to partake in a free behind the scenes tour of the Rod Laver Arena. Within the centre, we will be treated to spectacular food, premium Victorian wines and dazzling entertainment.
Exciting Raffle to Support Lifebox!
To support Lifebox and to celebrate our 75th Diamond Jubilee, we will be raffling a Diamond Pendant with all proceeds going to Lifebox. (VIC raffle permit no: 10646/16)
Everybody is entitled to safer surgery. Lifebox was founded in 2011 to help develop safer surgery in low resource countries. Recently Lifebox Australia and New Zealand was formed through the collaboration of Interplast, ASA, ANZCA, and NZSA to continue the work in the Asia Pacific region and allow tax deductible donations for Australians and New Zealanders. Together, they are working to make Lifebox one of the most cost-effective health interventions worldwide, and the global champion of safer surgery.

Tickets will be $100 each with only 250 tickets available and the winner drawn at the Gala Dinner at Melbourne Park.
100 tickets will be available for purchase at the ASA booth prior to the dinner during the conference with the remainder available on the night. So you will need to bring your credit card or cash. You or a representative will need to be at the dinner to collect your prize.
A platinum cluster pendant set with a central stone is 0.7ct Round Brilliant Cut GIA certified diamond. The pendant is surrounded by 22 0.16ct diamonds as shown. It includes a 9ct white gold chain.

Transport: Buses will pick you up from selected congress hotels and the Convention Centre. Delegates must nominate on the website if they require a seat on the bus so that we have adequate capabilities. Buses will leave the dinner at regular times afterwards. Alternatively you may wish to travel to or from Melbourne Park by tram.

There will be a one off transfer from Melbourne Park Function Centre to Lily Blacks at the conclusion of the ASA Gala Dinner at midnight.
Access to Melbourne Park Function Centre:
Catch a tram from Flinders Street, Spencer Street or Richmond Station to alight at the Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne Park Tram stop (Route 70, City — Wattle Park) Enter through gates at Garden Square and along ramp to left to the Function Centre.
The Northern Car Park can be accessed via Entrance A off Batman Avenue or via Entrance D off Olympic Boulevard (to the left of the roundabout). Guests must advise that they are attending an event in the Melbourne Park Function Centre or they may not be admitted. Please note the due to ongoing development works, spaces are limited.
